My (crazy) dreams!

I‘ve always had fantastical, weird, vivid dreams.

Last night, I dreamt I was being chased by zombies. I ran up the stairs (yes, I mock people who run UP the stairs in horror movies, but it turns out I’m also a runner-upper. Who would’ve thought?!)

Finally at the top of the stairs I found myself at a dead end. I turned to my right, and I saw a blue door set in a wall covered with pretty flowers.

Naturally, I opened the door.

There was nothing. Just more pretty wall.

I looked closer. A ha! It was a decoy door; there was a concealed door, that looked like the walls.

I pushed it open and found myself in a … wait for it … barn.

There were horses in their stalls and a lot of hay.

I thought to myself (in my dream, of course!), well I’ll be safe here.

I spread out my sleeping bag that I didn’t know I had. Maybe it was just folded up in my pocket all along. (It’s a dream, c’mon anything’s possible!)

I sat for a while and ate cookies. Again, I have no idea where those came from. Magically conjured up choco-chip cookies.

I then noticed a huge window in the side of the barn. The sky looked orange. I walked over to the window and that’s when I saw them. Three huge alien spaceships in the flaming orange sky.

Wait, was I running from aliens or zombies?

Anyway, I was seriously panicked now. Where was my passport? Oh no, I’ve lost my passport! How do I get home?!

Never mind, I’ll just have a cup coffee first.

Coffee?

Wha…?

My husband was gently shaking me awake holding out a cup of coffee. C’mon sleepyhead. Here’s your morning coffee.

It took me a few minutes to realise that I wasn’t in dream land any longer but back in my bed in the real world.

I woke up, a little dazed and exhausted.

As I sipped on my coffee (in the real world), my dream started fading away as I became mindful of the sun shining in, the birds chirping outside my window and me back in my familiar room.

I’ve often heard people talk about interpreting dreams. Some say dreams are a signal for something about to happen in your life.

Well, I don’t know how to interpret that one!

Are zombies coming? Or aliens? Or maybe deep down I want to buy floral wallpaper for my room, and paint the door blue. Or maybe I’m going to get a horse. Maybe I’m craving choco-chip cookies.

Or, maybe, I should just stop watching tv before bed.

(I think the main takeaway was the choco-chip cookies though. They do go well with morning coffee!)
