It finally snowed in Berlin!

Ever since I moved here from India last year, I’d been looking forward to the snow. I had never experienced snowfall before, and I had seen such beautiful pictures online of snow-covered Berlin in the wintertime.

I waited patiently as the months passed, and when winter began I’d check the weather app on my phone every morning as soon as I woke up. Some days the weather forecasts promised snow, but as the day wore on the sun would come out and the weather forecasts would get updated to ‘Sunny skies on the horizon, no snow today!’ (Okay, I might be paraphrasing a bit, but you get the drift).

And, as you might have guessed by now, there was no snow.

I was so desperately waiting for the snowfall that I even wrote a blog post about it!

Where’s the snow?!

Anyway, the winter is almost over and so I moved on. I stopped checking my phone for weather updates. Life went on and other priorities took over, especially with the current situation in the world.

This afternoon while I was working on my laptop at the dining table, my husband came rushing into the room, beaming. “Guess what”, he said. “It’s snowing!”

What?!

We immediately went out onto the balcony, and sure enough, there were tiny little flakes of snow floating down from the sky.

I ran back inside and got my camera. It was finally happening! It was finally snowing in Berlin!

The snowfall lasted for about an hour. I stood in the balcony, arms outstretched to catch the snowflakes, and toes freezing in my bedroom slippers but I couldn’t care less! I clicked over a hundred photographs and videos. Whenever I’d get too cold, I’d come back inside and stand like an excited 5-year-old with my nose pressed against the windowpane, looking out at the beautiful, white world outside.

Snow, you sneaky devil! Just when I thought it was all over, you surprised me!
