Happiness is…

Last weekend, I had gone for a short trip to Dresden with my husband.

We spent the weekend walking around the city, clicking photographs, deciding where to eat, what to go see next and so on. All the usual stuff.

At the end of the trip, we were walking back to the bus stop and we passed by the famous Frauenkirche which is right in the middle of the market square.

We had passed this church a couple of times during our trip there, but this time something was different.

There was a gentle breeze blowing, and when I looked to my left I saw this view of the church standing regally in the centre, framed on either side by these trees, bare of their leaves in winter. To add to the mood, a street performer nearby was playing a popular song on the piano.

At that moment, I felt joy. I held my husband’s hand and asked him to stop walking for a bit. I pointed to the scene in front of us and both of us stopped for a while and took in the beauty all around.

We must have stood there for not more than a few minutes, but to me that moment was perfect. And when I think back to my trip to Dresden, you can bet that I’ll always remember that moment when everything came together to make it just perfect.

Happiness is noticing the little moments in life. Happiness is living in those moments. Happiness is enjoying those moments that make you smile and bring joy to your heart.

Because a happy life is nothing more than a collection of beautiful, perfect little moments like these.
